Soar - Epilogue - 19 - The Levee BreaksEpilogue:
“The Levee Breaks”
Celestia walked silently in Trixie’s room, pausing in the doorway to take in the sight. Everything was just as Trixie had left it, all impeccably sorted and arranged, with her books carefully piled on her nightstand and the slight scent of perfume sweetening the air. It was so quiet and untouched that Celestia almost felt as if Trixie might sweep into the room, roll her eyes and ask ‘Oh, mother, what have I done now?’
Celestia sighed sadly, slowly walking inside and sitting down carefully on the bed, not wanting to displace a single speck of dust. She looked at her reflection in the full-length mirror, noticing how her mane had regained some of it’s color, but still was nowhere as bright or luminous as it used to be. She remembered the day she had bought the mirror for Trixie; Trixie was still a very young filly but had already begun to be taken with looking pretty. In sharp contrast, Rainbow would st

An eruption of flame blasted in the center of the throne room. The smoke cleared, revealing Chrysalis, her emerald eyes carefully scanning for signs of a threat. But it seemed no one had noticed their presence in the slightest.
There seems to be nopony here, Ajax mentally signaled, arching an eyebrow slightly in suspicion. Indeed, it seemed that the throne was room was completely empty, with neither a single guard nor servant around to disturb them. Chrysalis nodded her head slightly, but kept her guard up. Nopony knew better than her that just because you couldn’t see someone watching you, didn’t meant there wasn’t someone watching.
It’s quiet… Chrysalis thought. Much too quiet.
She took a step forward, readying her horn and Ajax did the same, both of them keeping their eyes sharp for whatever might be hiding in the shadows. Chrysalis halt

Hollow Shades, Equestria, October 1964:
Cupcake pressed her ears flat against the back of her head as she quietly sat down and huddled in her corner of the classroom, trying her best to block out the constant, never ending barrage of the thoughts of the hundred or so students in the room, and the additional fifteen hundred or so that were spread throughout the school. It was complete torture; as for every moderately innocent thought, there were a hundred more horribly filthy ones, which formed a suffocating fog around her, pushing down and closing in around Cupcake, with no escape in sight.
She had often pleaded with her parents to perhaps give her a tutor to come to their home and teach her there, but alas, her parent's thoughts equated Cupcake's fear of school as mere anxiety, and that the best method to fight against it was a 'proper immersion in society' as her father was frequent to say.

Rarity held Kili’s dead body in her forelegs, gently rocking it back and forth, her tears having long gone dry. She simply didn’t have the will to express her grief in another other way than a blank stare across the room at the rough cave walls. The world just no longer registered to her. Reality was simply too unreal. It was as if something inside of her had shattered, destroying any hope or sign of salvation that she might have had. Her only friend in this hellish place was now dead, and she was now completely and utterly alone. She was still in this shell-shocked state when she felt a paw roughly prod her.
Rarity said nothing, instead simply looking up at the large diamond dog with a blank expression. The diamond dog simply poked her again, this time with a balled fist, sending her crumpling to the floor like a house of cards. Next thing she knew, she wa

The Village of Prospekt, South Griffinheim Empire, April, 1964:
“Mama! Look what I can do!” the bright yellow colt said, eagerly running up to the orange coated mare who was busy tilling the garden. Floating beside him, seemingly weightless, was a small metal screw that he had found in the garden dirt. His mother turned to look, taking a moment to wipe some of the sweat off her brow.
“Carrot what is...” she trailed off at the sight of the floating screw, her eyes widening slightly. “Carrot what are you doing?”
Carrot simply beamed. “This Mama!” he then floated the screw around his hoof, a large smile on his face as his mother watched with surprise evident on her face.
“Carrot how are you doing that?” she asked, unable to believe the sight of the screw floating around as if a unicorn were levitating it.

Trixie trotted up to the entrance to the Bifrost. Still hanging over the entrance way was the tremendous cocoon that contained the unconscious form of her aunt. Trixie gave it a brief glance, wondering if she should recast the sleeping spell lest it wear off.
“No…” she murmured. “It’ll last long enough for what I need.”
Trixie continued into the Bifrost, hefting Gungnir into the air and rather unceremoniously slamming it into the specially designed hole. The massive series of gears, cogs and machinery below roared to life, grinding and groaning as a blinding beam of pure white light erupted from the staff, a complicated spider-web of energy sprouting forth. Trixie quickly began to scan the shimmering tendrils, before her eyes locked onto the bright green glowing dot representing Hekkerheim.
“There we are,” she whispered, til

Rainbow Dash made her way out of the construction sight, with Scootaloo, Spitfire and the Others following close behind.
“Rainbow what’s going on?” Scootaloo asked, running up along side Rainbow, looking up at the taller pony with concern.
“I must take you home right now. I’m afraid your lessons must wait.”
“But why? What’s going on?” Scootaloo insisted, trying to keep up with Rainbow’s increasing speed. “And why do I have to go home? Why can’t I stay with you?”
“I fear there are forces influencing my sister that will only bring danger to you. I’m sorry but where I go, you can’t follow.” Rainbow replied, her brow furrowed and voice worrisome.
“Where are you going and why won’t you tell me what’s going on?” Scootaloo pleaded, “I’m not a little filly.&

Luna silently pulled her sword out of the center of the Bifrost and slipped the blade into its sheath. Her eyes were already affixed on Midgard and she could see that Spitfire and her friends had landed safely at the exact location where Rainbow had been deposited. She was about to attune her ears on Midgard when another sound, the heavy footfalls of a large animal caught her attention. It was coming from behind her, which was odd, considering that most creatures of the size to produce such a sound only lived on such inhospital realms as Hellaheim or Drakespire.
She turned towards the direction of the sound, her sharp eyes spotting what seemed like a massive wolf running towards her. Luna’s eyes widened in realization when she spotted a familiar blue unicorn seated on the back of the wolf, her jaw tightening as she pulled out her sword again as the wolf raced down the

Rarity practically leapt out of bed, her eyes bolting open as she belted out a banshee like shriek of panicked terror.
“Ms. Belle, are you alright?” came Kili’s concerned voice and Rarity turned to see him sitting across from her, apparently having been reading a book. Rarity took several, gasping breaths, looking around the room and regaining her bearings. She was still in the cave, the nightmare having evaporated from view. Finally regaining her composure, she answered the question.
“I’m alright…” she said, more to comfort herself then to answer Kili’s question. Kili raised eyebrow.
“Are you sure you're alright? You look terrified,” he said, getting up from the cot he was sitting on and walking over to sit at the end of hers. Rarity simply nodded, waving a hoof dismissively as she sat up.
“It just a dream Kili...a really intense
