“Smoke on the Horizon”
"Haven't You Heard It's a Battle of Words"
Applejack let out a grumbling sigh as she entered the kitchen, making a beeline for the staircase. She didn’t even need to see Purity’s disapproving glare out of the corner of her eye to know that she was in hot water. She could feel those angry eyes bore into the back of her skull, but she was not sorry in the slightest sense and knew that she was right to lash out. But she also knew that Purity didn’t see things that way, and for the sake of Apple Bloom, she continued her trek to the stairs and hoped that by avoiding eye contact she can postpone the inevitable.
“Applejack, I need ta talk wit’ ya,” Purity said, causing Applejack to halt with her forehoof on the first step.
“What is it Purity? I need ta get Apple Bloom ta school…” Applejack replied, hoping to use that as an excuse not to talk about the obvious white elep

Fluttershy and Tree Flower stood on the steps of the relatively unadorned brownstone building just across the street from Manehattan’s prestigious Celestial Park. On the door in front of them, was a small sign that said “Dr. Cheerilee, Biochemist”.
“Well, here we are,” Tree Flower said, looking towards Fluttershy. “Are you ready Fluttershy?”
Fluttershy simply nodded without saying a word. She honestly was just happy that they had managed to get this far without being found out or her losing control. Tree Flower meanwhile, seemed relieved as well, as she smiled kindly and knocked on the door. There was a long, awkward pause as the two awaited a response.
“Well that’s odd,” Tree Flower muttered, once more knocking on the door, this time with a little more force. Fluttershy meanwhile, took this as an opportunity to get

Trixie smiled contently as she took another sip of her wine, setting down gracefully on the tremendous table in front of her. All around her sat dozens of adoring ponies, constantly showering her with praise and adulation. It was her first feast as All-Mother, and Trixie was ready to make it an occasion that no one in the kingdom was bound to forget.
“Speech! Speech!” Came the shouted request of someone Trixie couldn’t see, their voice wild and ecstatic. Trixie smiled broadly.
“Oh, I am flattered,” she said, blushing slightly. “But you all certainly wouldn’t want to hear a speech from my humble mouth?” she asked, remaining seated. There was a loud cheer, and several raised glasses, all of them begging her for the same thing
“Let the noble All-Mother speak!”

Once aboard the subway, however, Fluttershy regretted making that decision. It was worse than crowded, it was packed. Ponies were crammed into every available inch of space, forced to stand as the subway car rocked back and forth slightly as it rushed along the rails of Manehattan's complex underground railway.
Fluttershy bit her lip reflexively and tried to read the newspaper she had found as a particular sweaty stallion to her right bumped into her as the car shook slightly as the train briefly came to a halt at one of the many stops along the way. As if on queue, a garbled voice came over the speakers announcing the stop and some of the ponies started to move, some scooting to allow room for new ponies, and others disembarking from the train. The sweaty stallion muttered an apology absentmindedly and stood up from where he was sitting to disembark. In his place, a new p

"Don't worry Twilight, there's no need to be anxious. You'll do fine," Velvet said, making another minor adjustment to Twilight Sparkle's formal dress. The two unicorns stood outside the doors of Saddle Arabian Council Room. Twilight shook her head slightly as Velvet continued to tinker with the dress.
"Mother, I assure you that I am hardly anxious in the slightest. And if you would permit me to point out that the word ‘fine’ has variable definitions. Therefore, I believe that ‘fine’ is most unacceptable."
Velvet simply smiled gently and chuckled. "Alright then dear, would the term "perfect" be more acceptable?" She asked, her voice gentle. Twilight thought for a moment before nodding slightly.
"I suppose 'perfect' would be a more desirable term, yes." She said, smiling slightly. There was a quiet pause between the two, as Twilight pondered for a moment.

A rainbow colored streak shot across the bright blue sky of Ponyville. The rambunctious filly flew at top speed towards the cloud bank above, trying to go as high as she could.
In her ear was tucked a small receiver, through which she could hear the endless protests of her stick-in-the-mud uncle.
“You little brat I know you hear me! Get home this instant! Your mother’s going to have a fit when she knows you’ve been playing around the construction center while she was at Moonbase. Do you hear me?!”
The filly simply rolled her eyes and reached a hand into her ear, yanking out the receiver and tossing it away. “Sorry Uncle, can’t hear ya.” she chuckled, pumping her wings even harder as she climbed higher. She cleared the cloud bank and exploded into the glorious sunlight above the clouds. She hovered there for a moment, taking deep breaths, letting the pure air fi

"Oh my head," Rarity moaned as she came to, her eyes once more drifting in her sockets. Damnit, she thought, catching sight of the roughly hewn ceiling, with its dozens of diamonds and gems all glittering in the low, amber colored lights of the cave.
Her chest still ached, but nowhere near as much as it had been earlier. She could see out of the corner of her eye the brownish lump of some figure sitting at the end of her bed.
"Are you alright?" The figure asked, as it slowly came into focus, revealing the diamond dog who had been in the cave with her before. Dr. Kili was it? Rarity honestly couldn't remember.
"Ugh...do I look okay?" Rarity grumbled bitterly, gently rubbing a hoof on her sore head in an attempt to chase away the splitting headache she had.
"Well, for someone who's just had their chest blown open, sewn back together and then had their heads shoved under
Iron Mare Revamp - Act I - Valley of the ShadowAct I:
“Charade You Are”
“The Valley of the Shadow”:
Pain. Blinding, excruciating pain. Shouting. Dark figures looming over her body. Something digging into her chest, causing searing agony. She screamed. More shouting. Something rough pressed against her mouth, cutting of her screams and air. She writhed only to be swallowed by a cold weariness. She blacked out again.
A clatter of noise greeted Rarity’s ears as she slowly came to. The vaguely metallic sound felt like nails on a chalkboard to her aching head. Her chest felt as if it were on fire, and every little movement she made only managed to make another bolt of pain explode across her chest. There were some scattered shouts that sounded like a strange mixture of barks, yelps and squawks. She blinked several times, but could only see pitch blackness in front of her. There was some more murmuring and yammering and there could be heard the sounds

Fluttershy remained in the hug with her mother for what seemed like hours, until a gentle tap on her shoulder caught her attention.
“Fluttershy, I think we should keep moving,” Tree Flower said quietly, letting Fluttershy go. Fluttershy nibbled her lip slightly. Tree Flower noticed this and kept her hoof on her shoulder in support.
“Fluttershy, what’s worrying you now?” she asked.
Fluttershy sighed. “Well, I’m just worried for you. I mean, when I lose control, those ponies who were chasing us before always seem to find me again...” she sighed again, shifting slightly and running a hoof through her mane slightly. “and I don’t want them to hurt you.”
Tree Flower smiled gently. “I see. But I promised I wouldn’t leave you. I promised I’d get you to Manehattan safely, and I’m not about to let you down aga
Blue Eyes in FlamesWhen the prince sees the flower bloom from the palm of her hand, he orders her arrest.
She is only seven years old.
He takes the flower from her and keeps it, even though he knows he shouldn't. He puts it a vase, or, rather, his servant does that for him. The flower doesn't ever die, even years later.
It's dawn of a December morning, and he's cold. But still, he stands next to his father dutifully and looks at the little girl with blue eyes that are now black from seven nights sleeping on a cold, dungeon floor behind bars. They cut off her dark brown hair during that time. She's tied to the pyre, and there are seven guards around her, holding sharper swords than normal, not that she could get away. There's one man dressed in black holding an unlit torch, with a mask over his face to prevent his death. His father raises his arm, and the torch is lit.
She locks her gaze to his, and he blinks at her. It's like she expects him to prevent it. He couldn't, though, he can't. She scares him, w
